Bude is an amazing place to learn to surf. It has some of the most beautiful beaches in Cornwall and has produced some of the best surfers in the UK. Freewave Surf Academy is the only surf school in Bude to be licensed to run surfing lessons at Widemouth Bay and Summerleaze Beach in Bude. Both of these beaches are amazing places to learn to surf and are watched over by the RNLI Beach Lifeguards.
Family Surfing Lessons
We have a range of family surfing lessons available including: taster surfing lessons, multiple surfing lesson packages or private family surfing lessons.
With each of our surfing lessons and packages, you will start your lesson by meeting your dedicated surfing instructor at Widemouth Bay or Summerleaze Beach in Bude, Cornwall. We will fix you up with a suitably sized warm wetsuit and surfboard before heading down to the beach.
Each lesson will include instruction that is tailored to your level. Once you are warmed up and ready you will spend lots of time in water having fun riding waves.
By the end of your surfing lesson, we aim to have everybody in better surfing shape than when they arrived!

Fab Family 2-Day Surfing ExperienceWe had such fun surfing as a whole family for two days. Even the weather on the second day didn’t spoil it. James was a fab instructor and we all felt well looked after. Even those who hadn’t surfed before were all standing on the first day 🙂

Brilliant FunBrilliant Fun. My family had 4 hours surf tuition over 2 days. Our instructors were enthusiastic, knowledgeable and very patient. Working in small groups the Freewave staff paid close attention to our individual progress and were able to coach to everyone’s needs. I would definitely use Freewave Surf Academy again.

Family Fun Surf LessonBooked surf lessons for my family of three, first experience of surfing, Marco was our instructor and was really friendly, gave us a good warm up and run through the basics, wetsuits, boards all included.
We hit the waves and he gave us all plenty of time to adapt and practice, constantly supervising us especially my youngest daughter, great communication skills a good coach.
