Who Should Take Bodyboarding Lessons?
If you’re new to bodyboarding or a bit too young for surfing then our beginner bodyboarding lessons are perfect for you. We will teach you the basics of beach safety, how to move out in to the wave, how to catch waves and how to ride them with confidence. Our instructors will ensure you have a fun and safe introduction to bodyboarding.
We also offer private bodyboarding lessons. These lessons are tailored to the individual needs within your group. So, even if you you are a total beginner seeking one-on-one instruction, a group looking for something a bit more intimate or an existing bodyboarder looking to take the next steps….our private bodyboard sessions are designed just for you.

At Freewave Surf Academy, we provide all of the equipment that is needed for your bodyboarding lesson. This includes great quality bodyboards and wetsuits to ensure you are nice and warm while you enjoy your experience in the water.
Taster Bodyboarding Lesson
The Taster Bodyboard Lesson is exactly that. If you are looking to have a little taste of bodyboarding then our Taster Bodyboarding Lessons is the perfect place to start. This is the ideal family activity for those with younger children.
You will start your boarding lesson by meeting your instructor at your agreed location. We operate from Summelreaze Beach or Widemouth Bay both in Bude, Cornwall. We will fix you up with a suitably sized warm wetsuit and bodyboard. Then it’s time to stroll down the beach to the water’s edge and go through lesson safety and bodyboard instruction. Once you are ready and warmed up it’s time to hit the waves. Bodyboard lessons are 2 hours inc kit up and down
£40 per person. All equipment is included as part of your bodyboarding lesson. Lessons are 2 hours (inc kit up etc..)

Private Bodyboarding Lesson in Bude
Private bodyboarding lessons are a great make your bodyboarding experience a little more special. This can be done as a private one to one or as a private group lesson.
For anyone who considers themselves as an intermediate level bodyboarder looking to take their next steps, we would recommend a private bodyboard lesson.
£40 per person + £50 to make your group a private lesson. All equipment is included as part of your bodyboarding lesson. Lessons are 2 hours in length (inc kit up etc..)

Fantastic Bodyboarding Session with Young Children!Fantastic morning learning to bodyboard with my two children (aged 10 and 8). Lucy, the instructor, was brilliant – really engaging and fun with the children, and lots of information and chat with the adults. After a quick (and fun!) warm up and learning the technique on the beach, we spent the next couple of hours in the waves with Lucy in amongst all of us, encouraging the kids and giving everyone a helping hand, either with a push and a pull to catch a wave or some hints and tips to keep improving. What was particularly good was the that the group was restricted to six people so we each got lots of attention from Lucy. The hours flew by and we all wanted to keep going! Brilliant time all round – thank you Lucy and the Freewave team!
Recommend the BodyboardingWe did a bodyboarding session to get into it: great fun, and Charlie and Barnaby were very friendly instructors. They were especially good with the smaller kids in the group. Looking forward to a surfing session next week
Bodyboarding Fun at Widemouth BeachWe had a bodyboarding lesson with Shane at Widemouth Beach on the first day of our holiday in Bude and it was fantastic. The kids (6 and 8) were really looking forward to it and enjoyed it that much that we booked another session a few days later. The instructor, Shane, was great. He explained everything clearly for the kids and was very helpful, and patient. It was a pretty cold cold day and it was raining, but this didn’t detract from the experience at all, our daughter wore 2 wetsuits and we were all warm enough to enjoy it. Seeing the joy on our kids faces when they learnt how to ride the waves on their own was amazing. A great experience that I would highly recommend to anyone looking to enjoy the sea in a safe and child-friendly environment. Thanks to Shane and Robin from the Freewave Surf Team!
Excellent Bodyboarding Lesson for KidsWe contacted Robin on our first day in Widemouth bay and he sorted out a bodyboarding lesson for our kids at short notice with a nice discount thrown in. They enjoyed being taught by Puffs who was very patient and it was great to see them bodyboarding confidently by the end of the lesson. The lesson was the highlight of their holiday and we would definitely recommend Freewave.
