Many great British and European Champions have been born and raised on the waves in Widemouth Bay. With gently breaking waves and a designated surfing area marked out by the RNLI Beach Lifeguards, Widemouth Bay is one of the best places to learn to surf in Cornwall and the UK!
Robin heads up the surf instructor team at Freewave Surf Academy and has been introducing people to this wonderful sport for nearly 20 years. Having an experienced instructor with you in the water is essential for your safety and for your progression. The surfing lessons take place in small group sizes using great kit. We aim to have everybody up, turning and cruising across the waves in no time.

Take part in the daily yoga sessions to help prepare, energise and rejuvenate your body. Surfing is a physically demanding activity and so the yoga sessions are designed to help improve balance, increase flexibility, strengthen core muscles and to restore and revitalise your energy.
Our yoga teachers have a passion for introducing and guiding others through the physical and mental aspects of yoga. They not only understand the need of the body and mind to unwind from the stresses of daily life but they also understand the physical links between yoga and surfing.
Start the day with an energising Vinyasa Flow class to prepare you for your surfing lesson. The later sessions will be a slower, more relaxed restorative class that will stretch out those worked arms, shoulders and lower backs from your surfing session.
Beginners not to worry as we will guide you through the basics – expect to see a major change in your flexibility by the end of your stay!
All classes will be tailored to the needs of each individual.
With your accommodation being one of the closest houses to the beautiful beach at Widemouth Bay, you will be perfectly positioned for short walks to and from the surf as well as a late evening nip down to watch the sunset with some sane between your toes!
